My Story
Hi, my name's Mike. I'm 64, married, with two grown up daughters. I was born in Brisbane and have lived in Western Australia since 1998, but for a three year assignment in the USA. Well, that's another story (*hint hint*). I've travelled extensively through more than 40 countries and fortunately, made it home.
Technical and commercial business writing was a mainstay of my professional roles. Once retired, I began to write for fun. I've always wanted to write a book that could make people gasp, wince and cry but, importantly, laugh hard.
I liked the idea of writing a novel in the Australian context, about blokes and their mates and their wives and families. Perhaps that's a simple plot, but one that is fertile in material for hilarity and absurdity. It had to be funny and at times, really funny. And dramatic and absurd and make best use of a typical Aussie man's ego and naivety in avoiding trouble 'with the wife 'n kids'. Alas, in the book and in my own life, "a bloke's best intentions are no guarantee of favourable outcomes".
I know you will enjoy "One Mad Year - An Aussie Bloke's Tale".
