Mandurah local, Mike Lathouras, has received Literary Titan’s Gold Book Award for his debut novel, “One Mad Year - An Aussie Bloke’s Tale”.
Set in Brisbane, Australia, Mike writes about an Aussie bloke grappling with a year of surprises. Between incorrigible mates, perilous half-truths to his wife, petty conflicts with neighbours and a variety of dubious life choices, things turn crazy for him.
Written in an unapologetic Australian vernacular which was highlighted by Literary Titan as “particularly engaging for a reader new to Australian literature, as the language, slang, and expressions added a layer of authenticity and charm to the story”.
Mike is delighted with the award, “I’m thrilled to have been recognised as the author of “One Mad Year - An Aussie Bloke’s Tale”. This is my first of a series of books that depict the absurdities and humour in Australian family life and mateship. To have my first book acknowledged in this way is a great feeling and is confirmation that my style of writing and humour appeals to people all over the world.”
